Security is a shared responsibility
Platform security features protect the infrastructure and application layer, but account security also depends on each user choosing strong passwords, keeping devices secure, and reporting suspicious activity promptly.
Authentication & access control
- Email and password — Operators and homeowners sign in with a verified email address and password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters.
- Google sign-in — Operators and reporters can authenticate with their Google account for a faster, password-less experience. Homeowner Google sign-in is coming soon.
- Email confirmation — New accounts require email confirmation before first sign-in, preventing sign-ups with invalid or mistaken addresses.
- Password reset — Forgotten passwords can be reset via a time-limited, single-use link sent to the registered email address.
- Session management — Authentication sessions are managed securely and invalidated on sign-out.
AI Features & Safeguards
FloridaHomeWatchOS's optional AI Integration is built with several safeguards designed to protect Operators, Homeowners, and the accuracy of every report:
- Draft-only, human-confirmed. No AI-generated transcript, suggestion, or draft language is ever submitted or sent to a Homeowner without the Operator or Reporter explicitly reviewing and confirming it first.
- Permanent audit trail. Raw audio and the original transcript are retained alongside any edited or submitted version, so the full history is always available.
- Automatic compliance wording checks.AI-generated text is automatically screened for language that could misrepresent the scope of a home watch visit (e.g., words implying "inspection," "guarantee," "verification," or professional conclusions beyond a visual observation), and any flagged language requires manual review before it can be used. (Note: "GPS-verified" refers only to the location/timestamp data captured for a visit — not a claim about the property's condition — and is treated as approved terminology.)
- Safety-term flagging. Narration mentioning safety-relevant terms (such as leaks, gas, electrical issues, or smoke) is automatically flagged for a mandatory second review before the report can be submitted.
- No training use. Voice recordings and transcripts are never used to train AI models — not by us, and not by our AI service providers.
As of this page's last update, Florida does not have a comprehensive AI-specific statute; the proposed "AI Bill of Rights" (SB 482) did not pass in the 2026 legislative session. We monitor Florida legislative activity in this area and will update our practices and this page as applicable law develops.
Data protection & platform security
- HTTPS everywhere — All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted with TLS. We do not serve content over unencrypted HTTP.
- Row-level security (RLS) — Database access is enforced at the row level. Users can only read and write data they own or have explicit permission to access. Operators see only their own clients and visit reports; homeowners see only their own property data.
- Encrypted storage — Data at rest is protected by the platform provider's encryption mechanisms.
- Secure hosting — The application is hosted on a managed edge platform with automatic security patching and DDoS protection.
Florida privacy law compliance
FloridaHomeWatchOS is a Florida-based platform serving Florida Home Watch companies and their clients. We comply with the data privacy laws that apply to our business:
- Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA) — Fla. Stat. § 501.171. FIPA applies to all businesses that acquire, maintain, store, or use personal information of Florida residents. It requires reasonable measures to protect and secure personal data, and mandates breach notification to affected individuals within 30 days if a breach is likely to result in identity theft or financial harm. We maintain appropriate security controls and have procedures in place to assess and respond to any security incident.
- Florida Digital Bill of Rights (FDBR) — Fla. Stat. §§ 501.701–501.721, effective July 1, 2024. The FDBR grants consumer rights such as access, correction, deletion, and opt-out of targeted advertising. However, it applies only to companies with over $1 billion in global annual revenue that meet additional Big Tech criteria. FloridaHomeWatchOS does not meet these thresholds, so the FDBR does not apply to us. We nonetheless voluntarily honor many of the same principles — such as data minimization and transparent privacy practices — in how we operate.
What we collect and how we use it
We collect only the information needed to operate the Home Watch platform:
- Account information — Business name, owner name, email, and phone number for operators; name and email for homeowner portal users.
- Property and visit data — Addresses, visit schedules, GPS coordinates, timestamps, and photos uploaded during home watch visits. This data belongs to the operator and is shared with the homeowner through the white-label portal.
- Communication data — Messages exchanged between operators and homeowners through the built-in messaging system.
- Usage data — Anonymous usage metrics to help us improve performance and reliability. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for advertising.
Data retention & deletion
- Data is retained for as long as your account is active and necessary to provide the service.
- Operators can permanently delete a client record at any time from within the platform — this immediately and permanently removes that client's visits, invoices, messages, and portal invites.
- If you close your operator account entirely, contact us to request deletion of remaining account data. We will process verifiable requests within 30 days.
